To achieve the best fit and seal, we suggest rolling the tip between your thumb and forefinger to compress the foam before inserting it in your ear. Using your other hand, pull your ear back as this helps straighten out the ear canal allowing for a deeper insertion. Once in the ear, hold a finger to the end of the earphone, try counting to 15, to keep everything in place for a moment while the foam expands to conform to your ear canal. If you haven’t already been doing this, give it a try. It’s a simple thing, but it can make a big difference.

We usually tell customers to use the same size Comply tip as you would with silicone tips. Size will make a difference in retention and noise reduction. However, since our foam tips are compressible to insert and then expand in your ear, we have found that the medium size fits most users comfortably.

If tips are not tearing or deteriorating, you may be able to extend the life of your tips by gently removing ear wax and debris.

Do not clean tips when warm and soft just out of your ear. Once at room temperature, either use a Comply Cleaning Kit or wash the tips in warm water, squish with a soft cloth and air dry before next use. Never use soap, detergent, or alcohol-based cleaners as they will break down the foam.

We also recommend that you do not handle the ear tips immediately after applying lotions or hand sanitizer. Colored tips may fade with time, this is normal and does not affect performance.

For peak performance, we do recommend changing to new tips every 2-3 months. MAX users can expect roughly double this timeframe. A three pair package of tips will last most users around 9 months. Of course, how much you use the tips will have an impact on the lifespan of the tips much like tires on a vehicle. Our active users may find they need to replace their tips more often than the average user. 

To prevent early tearing or disintegration of the tips, make sure you prep the tip before each use. This involves gently rolling the tips down between your thumb and pointer finger before insertion. Once inserted, hold them in place for a few seconds (count to 15) to let them regain their shape and conform to your ear canal – this will create a custom fit. 

Occasionally cleaning the tips will have a positive effect on their lifespan. This can be done with a soft damp washcloth (only use water!). Simply wipe clean and allow them to air dry before their next use. Never use soap as the detergent if even the mildest of them will break down the foam. We also recommend that you do not handle it immediately after applying lotions or hand sanitizer. Beyond this, we usually advise the general care of your ears and your listening device. Store your earphones in a hard carrying case to avoid extra friction, and store them away from direct heat or cold.
